Maha Nayakas’ request to take an action against the distortion of Theravada Buddhism in Sri Lanka
I think, now the time has come, for us to reveal to the International Buddhist Community, the ongoing problem regarding the distortion of Buddha’s Teachings in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Buddha Sasana has lost its security within the country mainly due to the absence of a proper state legal system as the country is no longer a monarchy. In the absence of a Monarch, any Tom, Dick and Harry could govern the country and the discipline and justice are at stake.
The Honourable Maha Nayakas have already educated the present Government, about the great harm, continuously being carried out by a person known as Meevanapalane Siridhammalankara (alias Sirisena Saputhantri) a retired government servant, who handled Census (sankyalekhana) in the agricultural sector, prior to becoming a Novice monk (Samanera). He neither had the background, education, wisdom, intelligence, or the time to become ordained as a Buddhist monk and had been already expelled by the Buddha Sasana of Sri Lanka and stripped off his Novice status too, by the Mahanayakas of the Malwaththa and Asgiriya Chapters, Amarapura and Ramanna Nikayas.
However, the Meevanapalane Siridhammalankara alias Sirisena Saputhantri had not stopped his activities of distorting Dhamma, which seems to be a conspiracy backed by a devious group of personnels with monetary worth and political power. Obviously, there should be a hidden agenda and a purpose for all his doings, which are supported by black money, because the real culprits are hiding behind this insignificant person, who is a nonentity and unknown to the general public and the learned society in the country prior to his outbreak as an instrument, distorting Buddha’s Noble Teachings and the Buddhist history, which are both well known, well researched immaculately documented by the Buddhist and non-Buddhist scholars, researchers and the Monastics in the world.
It is obvious that he is a mentally ill person. It is a very clever tactic of those who carry out this movement by choosing this person as a figure head, because the full attention will invariably fall on him rather than on his manipulators. These manipulators seemed to have tightened their grasp on all those who handle the controlling mechanism of the Government.
Therefore, it is only wise at this crucial moment, to make a timely approach to the International Buddhist Movements, Communities and Organisations all over the world, and expose the truth of the current events taking place in Sri Lanka.
We decided to inform the Buddhists in all these 179 countries, in Asia-pacific, North America, Europe, Middle East – North Africa, Latin America – Caribbean, where there are people who accept and practice Buddha’s Teachings and make pilgrimage, to the place of His Birth and other important sacred places in India, about what is going on in Sri Lanka. They do not accept or allow distortion of the Noble Teachings and the facts related to Buddha’s life. This exposure will make them become aware of the current situation in Sri Lanka and how it has affected the Buddha Sasana and also how helpless the people have become with no one to turn to.
We have now come to the conclusion, that the Sri Lankan Government is unable to solve the problem and the responsible politicians do not want to solve it in order to safeguard and secure their positions in the political arena which seem to be under control of a group of illegal power and black money.
If you are still unable to make a decision to appoint a special task force to investigate the activities of Meewanapalane Palane, alias Sirisena Saputanthri and who are behind them, we would like to point out the following facts which might enlighten your understanding.
Sri Lanka had been known hither to as the Head Quarters of Theravada Buddhism, which is accepted in the world, uncontested, as the original and early Teachings of the Supreme Buddha. However, it originated in India and the Founding Teacher of this invaluable Reality and Science is Gautama Buddha who was born and lived in India
For an example, Olympics games originated in the Peloponnese in Ancient Greece. Sports contests organised at Olympia took place every four years and acquired the name Olympic Games.
Now where is the Head Quarters of Olympic Games? - in Lausanne, Switzerland. Does that mean that Olympic games were born in Switzerland and Peloponnese is in Switzerland? Meewanapalane may say so!
Well known incidents activities which were born in one part of the world, later have spread to other regions, and begun to thrive well due to many reasons.
Tripitaka for the first time was compiled in Sri Lanka in the 1st Century and its original copies have been found distributed in many parts of the world. These copies had been investigated, researched, studied, analysed by scholars, researchers, of monastic and laity, belonging to different nationalities, speaking different languages in all over the world. They have found no problem in the authenticity of these manuscripts regarding the subject and explanations.
Do you believe that the International Community will accept the facts, this nonentity is trying to spread? How did this nonentity come into the limelight, suddenly, from nowhere and who paved way for him for the distortion of Dhamma and for what purpose?
If you, as the Head of State, are in a difficult position to take an action, please make it known to the public as a true gentleman. We cannot ask you to identify yourself as a Buddhist because a Buddhist is an intellect and a wise person. You need to admit it by yourself. We cannot thrust it upon you.
We cannot let the matter remain unresolved indefinitely. Therefore, please acknowledge bravely to the nation, to the Buddhists and to Maha Nayakas, your inability to take any action, over this matter.
Your weakness will be overlooked by the nation, by treating you as an honest person and a person of virtue. We do not ask you to become a Buddhist. That would be too much for asking.
In the meantime, we shall educate the International Buddhist Community about the ongoing problem in Sri Lanka.

මීවනපලානේ සිරිධම්මාලංකාර යන නමින් ව්යාජ භික්ෂූත්වයකින් පෙනී සිටින සිරිසේන හපුතන්ත්රී යන අය මීරිගම ප්රදේශයේ පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබන පරමනිබ්බාන යන ආයතනයේ සිදුවන ක්රියාකාරකම් නිසා ථෙරවාද බෞද්ධ සම්ප්රදායට හා බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතියට ඉමහත් ව්යසනයක් සිදුවන බව මේ වන විට ඔබතුමා ද දන්නා කරුණක් බව අපගේ අදහසයි.
ශතවර්ෂ ගණනාවක් පුරාවට නොනැසී අඛණ්ඩව පැවත එන ලද හා අතීත රජවරු හා මහ තෙරුන් වහන්සේ ලා විසින් මනා ලෙස ආරක්ෂා කරගන්නා ලද ථෙරවාද බෞද්ධ සම්ප්රදාය හා එහි හර පද්ධතිය මෙම මීවනපලානේ සිරිධම්මාලංකාර යන අය ගේ විවිධ ක්රියාකාරකම් නිසා හායනයට ලක් වෙමින් පවතින අතර බොහෝ පිරිස් සම්බුදු දහම ලෙස විකුර්ති මතවාදයන් වලින් හෙබි අමුතුම දහමක් අනුගමනය කිරීමට පටන් ගෙන ඇත. මෙයින් සිදුවන විනාශය පිළිබද ව මේ වන විට ත්රෛනිකායික මහා නායක මාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේලා විසින් ඒකාබද්ධ ප්රකාශයක් නිකුත් කරමින් ඔබතුමා ඇතුලු වගකිවයුතු රජයේ නිළධාරීන් දැනුවත් කිරීමට ද කටයුතු යොදා ඇත.
ශ්රී ලංකා ආණ්ඩුක්රම ව්යවස්ථාවේ 9 වන ව්යවස්ථාව මගින් ඔබතුමා ඇතුලු රජය වෙත බුද්ධ ශාසනය පෝෂණය කර ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේ වගකීම පවරා ඇතත් එම වගකීම ඉටුකිරීම ඔබ තුමා ඇතුලු රජය විසින් පැහැර හරින බව අපට පෙනී යන කරුණකි.
බුදූන් වහන්සේ විසින් දේශිත නිර්මල සද්ධර්මය පැහැදිලිව වටහා ගත යුතු වන නය ක්රමයන් ද ථෙරවාද බෞද්ධ ඉගැන්වීම තුළ ලිඛිතව ම තිබියදී තමාට හැගෙන ඕනෑම අදහසක් බුද්ධ දේශනාව යයි කියමින් මිනිසුන් නොමග යවන බුද්ධ ශාසනයේ හර පද්ධතීන් විනාශ කරන මෙම තැනැත්තාට එරෙහිව වගකිවයුතු රජයක් වශයෙන් ඔබතුමා ඇතුලු මේ රජය ක්රියාත්මක වනු ඇතැයි අපි තරයේ විශ්වාස කරමු.
බුදු සසුනේ උන්නතිය හා ආරක්ෂා ව සම්බන්ධව ඔබ සතු යුතුකම ඉටු කර මේ ව්යාජ චීවරධාරීයාගෙන් බුද්ධ ශාසනය ආරක්ෂා කර ගැනීමට කටයුතු කරන මෙන් ඉතා ඕනෑකමින් ඉල්ලා සිටිමු.
