Acting on Vapes For Improved Bathroom Schedules
The Issue
Bathroom schedules at James Logan High School are complicated due to an ever-increasing number of students vaping, especially within bathrooms. The implementation of this petition not only leads to increased student productivity through decreased bathroom travel times, but also provides backing for the JLHS Unity Collective Club to enact prevention and mitigation measures against student vaping through volunteer efforts, proposals, and community activities. With your signature, you are supporting efforts to mitigate vaping on campus and provide improved bathroom access for students. This will then improve student learning, productivity, and comfort by reducing unnecessary bathroom travel times, simplifying teacher-related systems such as Minga, and creating an overall safer and more accessible campus for all students and teachers.
As a student at James Logan High School who regularly uses the limited-access restrooms, I am regularly exposed to second-hand vape smoke and restrooms smelling like artificial flavorings. Many of my peers share these similar experiences with me and are actively addressing and supporting our efforts. Through this cause, my peers and I are hoping to not only mitigate vaping, but to promote a much safer environment for all students at JLHS, including myself, and to raise awareness about the risks of vaping and the challenges of breaking the cycle of nicotine use.
