As a resident of Hyderabad, I appeal on behalf of an University of Hyderabad. The rich biodiversity of Hyderabad Central University (HCU), is being threatened by the arbitrary actions of Telangana Government.

 With the loss of every tree, every patch of green, we lose more than just a piece of our campus, we lose a piece of our future.Sustainability is not merely a buzzword; it is a necessity for economic, social, and cultural well-being, and more critically, for our survival. Deforestation is a global issue and it is happening within our home, within our HCU. According to World Bank data, forest area decreased by 1.3% globally in the past decade. In India, the forest coverage is just over 20%, considerably lower than the global average of 31%. The trend of deforestation has to be reduced from HCU.

The natural landscape of HCU is not just aesthetically valuable, but it also provides crucial environmental services. It acts as a carbon sink, absorbs pollutants, moderates climate, and supports a rich variety and number of species. Losing this green cover, especially in the era of climate change is an unspeakable act.

It is our responsibility, as guardians of this planet, to ensure that future generations inherit a world in which the species of Hyderabad Central University continue to thrive. We can't afford to lose them. We must raise our voices together and take action.I urge each one of you to consider this issue not as an isolated environmental concern, but rather as an urgent call for safeguarding our common future. Let our voices resonate with the plea for conservation of rich biodiversity and it's species. let us pledge to protect our environment which in the long will protect us all.  Kindly sign the petition.
