Act now: Illegal fireworks are Illegal!

Act now: Illegal fireworks are Illegal!

The Issue

The excessive illegal firework activity causes severe anxiety. Children babies the elderly and the helpless animals become extremely distressed due to the invasion of  illegal fireworks. Invading the peace a tranquility with sounds of combat.  The law still is in effect on the Fourth of July.  The police NEED to issue summons to the criminals setting off the  hazardous fireworks for manny hours.   The punishment is up to $3000 and/or 15 days in jail.   The punishment is the law.  Illegal fireworks are the law.

Illegal fireworks pose a real danger to our community. According to the National Fire Protection Association, fireworks cause an average of 18,500 fires per year, including 1,300 structure fires and 300 vehicle fires. These incidents result in direct property damage amounting to millions of dollars annually. Moreover, the unpredictable nature of fireworks can trigger PTSD episodes in veterans and exacerbate the conditions of individuals suffering from various mental health issues.

The health and welfare of our residents should be the top priority. It's essential that local authorities, including our local Police Departments, take stricter measures to enforce existing laws against the use of illegal fireworks. More visible patrols and actual summons for offenders would deter the many that easily set off pyrotechnics on our doorsteps.

We urge the local government to allocate resources towards public awareness campaigns that educate citizens about the risks of illegal fireworks and promote reporting of such activities. Collaborating with neighborhood watch programs can also help monitor suspicious activities and ensure communal safety.

Parents like me fear for our children’s peace of mind, and pet owners worry about the trauma caused to our animals. We deserve a community where we feel secure in our own homes, so let us work together to silence illegal fireworks in Valley Stream and Nassau County.

Sign this petition to demand stronger action against illegal fireworks and safeguard the tranquility of our community.
