We call on the ACT Government to safely re-open the construction industry for small-scale projects. 

Small-scale construction can operate safely and with appropriate COVID-safe protocols in place. 

The announcement on Friday, 27 August that only Government, large-scale and civil construction may commence next Friday (3 September) is unfair and will put the livelihoods of many small businesses at risk. 

Delaying the re-opening of small-scale projects will leave clients and purchasers in limbo, with many facing homelessness or requiring expensive temporary accommodation because of the delay to residential projects. 

From day one of this lockdown, we have advocated for a safe re-opening of the entire construction industry. 

We call on the ACT Government to commit to opening ALL sectors of the ACT building and construction industry on Friday, 3 September.
