Acquit Student Noah Hall-King from an Unjust 10-Day Suspension

The Issue

Noah Hall-King, a dedicated student at West Orange High School, has recently been slapped with a 10-day suspension which we believe to be unjust and unwarranted. Punishments should be issued in a fair and reasonable manner. As per the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), suspension and expulsion can potentially harm students, pushing them into an unproductive path rather than correcting their behavior. Furthermore, the AAP has stated that out of school suspensions may not only harm the individual suspended, but also does not tremendously benefit school safety or the community's learning environment. It is crucial to foster positive disciplinary methods that embrace learning and growth, rather than punitive measures that may dampen a student’s aspirations and potential success. Along with this, Noah is known around campus as one of the kindest and hardest working students. He is known for aspiring towards a bright future in engineering and this could greatly damper that progress. Therefore, we call on the school administration to acquit Noah Hall-King from this unjust 10-day suspension and review their disciplinary procedures. Please, sign this petition to support Noah and advocate for fair treatment of all students.
