Growing up in Milan, I've seen firsthand the gradual fading of our beloved Lombard language. It pains me to witness its decline, as it's not just a dialect, despite misconceptions. Linguistically, Lombard is a Western Romance language, sharing closer ties to French and Spanish than to Italian. This language is a core part of our identity, and its dismissal feels like a direct threat to our cultural heritage.

My ancestors did everything they could to unite Italy into one country. They believed it was a step towards solidarity and strength. Yet, the current narrative seems to overlook the unique identities in the name of nationalism and diversity is seen as weakness.
Instead of being recognized for our contributions, we are being erased.

It's not about creating divisions, but about celebrating diversity. We seek acknowledgment and respect for our language and heritage within the Italian framework. By doing so, we ensure that our cultural identity will continue to thrive and be recognized by the world.

If possible, please give us the same representation that EU states with less people (like Estonia) get. Lombard is less and less spoken, but is still one of the most spoken languages in Europe, while Lombardy has little to no official representation in the EU.
