Signing this petition will help present a united front to both Pharmac and the New Zealand Government. People with diabetes campaigned, protested and pleaded, sadly their calls were ignored in favour of saving money. All funding for current glucose meters was withdrawn from the country and replaced by a sole-supply agreement with a Korean company whose glucose meters fail to provide accurate readings.

New Zealanders have NO CHOICE but to use these meters, our health and safety is severely at risk. We need people in power to really listen, to understand that this technology is failing us, and to put our needs FIRST. Even a few days of faulty readings could cause severe, and even fatal consequences for people with diabetes. The tales are endless, young children reading 7.3 and reaching hospital, only to discover they were actually reading a 2. This situation is deadly. By going sole-supply, NZ has also forced many large pharmaceutical companies to withdraw from our market. They can no longer afford to be there, so we have no back-up and zero market competition for technological advances on our soil.

Help us to regain control of our diabetes and to ensure our future health is taken care of. Make our Health Minister, Tony Ryall, and our Prime Minister, John Key really listen.
