Petition Statement: Call for a Law to Prosecute Proven False Accusations of Sexual Assault Without Harming Genuine Victims 

False allegations of sexual assault are no longer isolated incidents. There is a growing number of cases where woman have been found to have intentionally — but when they occur, they have devastating consequences. Innocent lives are shattered. Reputations, careers, families, and mental health are often destroyed beyond repair. In a justice system built on fairness and accountability, knowingly and maliciously making a false accusation of such a serious nature must carry real legal consequences. In many cases, even when proven innocent, the damage is irreversible. 

We, the undersigned, are calling for a new law to be introduced that criminalizes and prosecutes individuals who are found to have intentionally made false allegations of rape or sexual assault. This law must: 
Apply only when there is clear and compelling evidence that the accusation was knowingly false; 
Hold individuals legally accountable for the damage caused to the falsely accused; 
Include appropriate sentencing guidelines and penalties; 
Not deter or silence genuine survivors of sexual violence, who must always feel safe and supported when coming forward; 
Help restore balance and integrity in how these serious matters are investigated and handled. 

This law is not about doubting victims — it’s about protecting truth, justice, and fairness for all. It aims to deter the rare but harmful misuse of the system, while actually strengthening trust in legal processes, so real victims can come forward without fear of stigma or skepticism. 
False accusations hurt more than the accused. They undermine real survivors, fuel public doubt, and slow down justice for genuine cases. A balanced and evidence-based legal response is long overdue. 
We urge legislators to take this issue seriously and begin the process of drafting and enacting a dedicated law that addresses the serious consequences of proven false sexual assault allegations — not to divide or silence, but to protect truth, fairness, and justice for all.
