Why this petition matters

Started by Arielle Botwinick

I’ve lived in Pennsylvania since 2007. In 2017 I had a brain tumor surgically removed from my cerebellum. I’m now in a wheelchair. Sidewalks are harrowing. I’ve spilled/fallen out of my chair many times. Accessibility is a huge deal. Disabled people, who aren’t on social security, pay taxes. Why aren’t dangerous sidewalks an issue? Disabled people vote and spend money. Why does society ignore us? There’s a whole bunch of Americans that can’t get around.

There are some jobs for disabled folks where they’re paid 22 cents a day. People want to raise the minimum wage and we have sweat shops in the USA. Yes they are sweat shops. I want to bring awareness of this issue. Better sidewalks would make it easier to push kids in strollers. There's benefits for both able-bodied people and the disabled. The fact that a petition for accessibility is necessary is truly ridiculous. So much money is given to other countries when sidewalks here are messed up. It doesn’t make sense.

I’m starting this petition to improve accessibility for disabled Americans and able-bodied parents across this country. Please sign it.
