This is a petition to add a 15% tariff to the use of imported fossil fuels and and 10% federal tax on fossil fuels companies in the United States to help prevent mass extinction on a global scale. You might think that this would force people who can’t afford to make the switch to go broke but that problem is solved because this petition will also include the use of that tax money utilized to give a percentage of money back when purchasing an electric vehicle, amount depending on your tax bracket. (meaning larger checks for the working class to purchase a new vehicle) Demand will also increase supply and therefore directly cause prices for renewable energy options to get cheaper and more cost effective for the working class.

You probably didn’t know that the United States is the world's top producer of fossil fuels, producing nearly 20% of the world's total fossil fuels.

As a resident of this beautiful planet and a concerned parent, I am deeply disturbed by our continued reliance on fossil fuels when far cleaner and sustainable options are emerging. The inconsiderate use and production of fossil fuels in the United States not only jeopardize our environment but also threaten the future of our children. The advent of solar, wind, and nuclear power has opened up a new era of possibilities that promises longevity, safeguarding the planet while ensuring our technological progress doesn't stumble. 

Increased investments and focus on these clean energy options could make them cheaper, more efficient, and readily available. Nuclear energy, despite its controversies, is evolving to be safer and more sustainable. A report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) suggests that increasing renewable energy to 36% of the total energy mix by 2030 would benefit the global economy by $1.3 trillion (source: IRENA). With the necessary incentives, this switch can accelerate the clean energy revolution and set us on a path of sustainable and responsible growth.

Our planet can no longer endure the damages wrought by extreme fossil fuel consumption. We are headed towards an inevitable switch to cleaner energy sources. The demand for this transition resonates not just from the environmentalists, but from every person who dreams of a safe and secure future on this planet. Hence, it is imperative that we accelerate this transition. Don't we owe it to our children to leave them a world that is not just habitable, but thriving?
