ACA 5/4/23 SUE & BUD THE ALEXANDRINE PARROT ATTN MORETON BAY COUNCIL

ACA 5/4/23 SUE & BUD THE ALEXANDRINE PARROT ATTN MORETON BAY COUNCIL
The issue
If you watched the 5/4/23 final segment on ACA, you will be familiar with the heartbreaking story of Sue from Bribie Island QLD ( of Moreton Bay Council ) & her beautiful MEDIUM sized Alexandrine Parakeet Bud.
unfortunately, Bud has had a bad wrap from one unsatisfied neighbour who obviously has nothing better to do with their life & has received a complaint from the council RE his " calls ".
A Queensland woman says she's been left "horrified" after her local council told her she has to get rid of her pet bird of three years within 14 days or face a fine of $2875.
Sue Mariner relocated from Sydney to Bribie Island with her Alexandrine Parakeet named Bud last year.
The bird goes everywhere with her, including to the bathroom and outside to the shops.
According to Moreton Bay Regional Council's rules Bud is classed in the same category as a large parrot, along with cockatoos and galahs and therefore he isn't allowed to be kept on a property smaller than 1000 square metres.
PLEASE SIGN TO RAISE AWARENESS! THE LAW STATES NO L A R G E PARROTS UNDER 1000 MSQ, if you have half an educated brain, you'd know that an alexandrine parrot is classed as a medium PARAKEET. THIS IS NOT A LARGE PARROT!
Bud is her companion bird, as someone who suffers with mental health & have MANY birds to help me with my daily struggles, this case really has boiled many of our bloods.
