While there is still no official response from The Mary Sue or its parent company, editor-in-chief Jill Pantozzi has posted a personal apology on her tumblr today, saying: "...I wanted to apologize for letting a lot of our readers down recently in not keeping with our core values and mission statement. I also want to say how very sorry I am there’s been no official mention of the concerns on our website or social media account. This is all I can say, and I know it won’t be nearly adequate for a lot of people and I totally understand and respect that, but I just wanted you all to know TMS staff have read and discussed every single one of your comments, tweets, emails, etc. We hear you and will strive to do better in the future." I feel there are two big takeaways from the statement: (1) Ms. Pantozzi and seemingly other Mary Sue staff members wish to remedy or at least address the situation but are prevented from doing so, most likely by their parent company Abrams Media. (I plan to refocus the campaign primarily at Abrams Media.) (2) The article will remain up, unaltered and without official comment, unless we can raise enough of a stink for the higher ups at Abrams Media to take us seriously.
