Here in New Mexico amazon has built a new robotics warehouse. All the workers are held to an algorithm which determines our productivity. If the computer detects problems we are reprimanded however the system is very buggy and the managers are aware of this as well. we get reprimanded for not working fast enough and for making too many mistakes etc. but this is all determined by a program not a person. Were only payed 15$ per hour compared to their average starting wage of 18$ per hour. There is no way to get raises based on skills, certification or any training other than becoming a "Process Assistant" or a Manager. Essentially the only way to make more money is to become part of upper management which creates a culture of classism and division within the warehouse. There is a computerized system of time management that determines our employment. If our un payed time runs out we are terminated. Not only that the un payed time is deducted by hours so if you are 10 minutes late it deducts an hour that can only be adjusted by supplementing with your personal or vacation time effectively scalping the little hours of emergency leeway we have in the first place. If you have to leave early due to an emergency, they deduct unpaid time. On top of this we only get 20 hours of UPT quarterly. You cant quantify life. were human beings not robots.
