Abolish VAT on Imported PC Hardware in the European Union

Abolish VAT on Imported PC Hardware in the European Union
The Issue
Abolish VAT on Imported PC Hardware in the European Union
To: The European Parliament, The European Commission, Governments of EU Member States
Why is this important?
Currently, the European Union has no domestic manufacturers for essential PC components such as CPUs, GPUs, and other high-performance hardware. Instead, we rely entirely on imports from the United States, Taiwan, South Korea, and China. Despite this, a high Value-Added Tax (VAT) is applied to all imported hardware, making it significantly more expensive for European consumers, professionals, and businesses.
These components are not luxury goods, but essential tools for:
Developers and engineers working in IT, software, and AI development
Researchers and scientists who rely on high-performance computing
Content creators, designers, and video editors
Gamers and PC enthusiasts who drive innovation in the industry
Because there is no European competition in the CPU/GPU sector, VAT on imported hardware serves only to increase costs unfairly for European citizens and businesses, without protecting any local industry. Meanwhile, countries outside the EU have easier access to these products at lower prices, putting European professionals at a disadvantage.
What do we demand?
✅ Full removal of VAT on imported PC hardware (CPUs, GPUs, monitors, motherboards, etc.) across the EU.
How will this benefit Europe?
✔️ Makes essential technology more accessible and affordable for European consumers and professionals.
✔️ Supports Europe’s IT sector, AI research, gaming, and digital content creation.
✔️ Ensures European professionals and companies remain competitive in global markets.
✔️ Encourages innovation and technological advancement without unnecessary taxation.
