Abolish The Use of I-Ready in Schools

The Issue

My heartfelt story began when I frustratingly spent 5 hours and 49 minutes on an i-Ready math lesson, struggling to reach the minimum score of 80% set by my teachers, but achieving only 67%. It is disheartening to spend so much time on a platform that ironically is not ready to cater to the unique learning styles and speed of students.

I-Ready is a system often lauded for its supposed abilities to create personalized lesson plans suited to each student's needs. Yet as an actual user, I faced a frustrating reality of time wastage and demotivation, far removed from this ideal. Studies have hinted at this discrepancy too. According to Education Week, a significant portion of teachers (over 30%) expressed dissatisfaction with the I-Ready platform due to unrealistic time requirements and lack of relevancy to individual student needs (EdWeek Market Brief, 2019).

The purpose of this petition is clear: We must call on schools to abolish the mandatory use of I-Ready. Education should adapt to the student, not the other way around. Students deserve learning platforms that not only profess customization but genuinely act upon it.

Take a stand for educational justice, for flexible learning, and for student well-being. Sign this petition and support the ban of I-Ready in schools.
