Abolish the liquids rule. Urge Homeland Security to Abolish the Liquid Restrictions

Abolish the liquids rule. Urge Homeland Security to Abolish the Liquid Restrictions
The Issue
More than a decade ago, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security enforced the 3-1-1 liquids rule, creating a restriction on carrying more than 3.4 ounces of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in carry-on bags. This limitation, while allegedly established to prevent potential threats, seriously hampers the freedoms of ordinary passengers and leads to excessive levels of waste as items are discarded at security checks. According to estimates by The International Air Transport Association (IATA), this practice leads to an extra cost of $2.4 billion to passengers and airports every year.
In 2013, a report by 'The Risk-Based Security Screening for Passengers' stated that such restrictions have limited impact on improving security. Unfortunately, these restrictions still exist today, causing inconvenience to millions of passengers every year.
By signing this petition, we are not undermining security but asking for a more efficient policy. It's the right time for Homeland Security to rethink the liquids ban and adopt a more rational, risk-based approach towards airport security that respects the rights and needs of all air passengers. Please sign this petition to urge Homeland Security to abolish the liquid restrictions in carry-on bags.
