Abolish the Elected Board of Equalization to Help Save California's Budget

The Issue

As a former student, employee and now grandmother living in California, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of our public school system. Our children are our future and they deserve proper education and care. However, this is being threatened by unnecessary expenses such as the elected Board of Equalization.

The Board of Equalization costs taxpayers millions of dollars every year. It is run by unqualified politicians who seem more interested in an easy paycheck than serving their constituents. This misuse of funds is not only unjust but also detrimental to our state's budget which already suffers from a deficit.

In light of these issues, I propose that we amend California's Constitution to abolish the elected Board of Equalization. By doing so, we can redirect these funds towards important programs that directly benefit our citizens - families, schools and children.

According to a report from the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO), abolishing this board could save taxpayers up to $50 million annually - money that could be better spent on education or healthcare services for Californians.

Let us put an end to this political free for all. Let us prioritize what truly matters – investing in our future generations rather than lining the pockets of unqualified politicians.
