The government in places such as he South Region still does the death penalty to this day and I think it's bad for a few reasons and heres why:

1. innocent  people:If you are innocent and have been sentenced to death and already executed there is nothing to do at all because of a tragic mistake by the Judge that can not be reversed.
2. It is a easy penalty:it is a lot easier to just die and not suffer in prison for years that may feel like a eternity 
3. People do not deserve to die:                   Ok I know this will be controversial but I think that nobody deserves to die because of murder. and we never know if they did it for a certain reason or maybe it was a accident. and imagine the person being sentenced to death's family they would be shocked, sad miserable depressed, or mad. Plus what if a kid's dad got sentenced to death, the kid would be very sad and would have to get a new family and depressed. Oh by the way children with parents who have died are 3 times more likely to commit suicide
