This personal plea originates from a resident of Lowndes County who, like many others, wishes for a cleaner and well-kept living environment. The current burn ordinance's prohibition on outdoor burning hampers not only our hurricane clean-up efforts but also prevents us from maintaining the curb appeal of our homes. It is essential to note that Hurricanes have struck Lowndes County nine times in recent history (NOAA), creating substantial debris and damage. This burn ordinance, while intended to protect us, often adds to the post-hurricane recovery challenges due to the extensive clean-ups required. In light of these concerns, we are calling on the Lowndes County authorities to lift and remove the burn ordinance for all homeowners within their jurisdiction.
