New Jersey Bill A845 was passed by the Legislature and is headed for the Governor’s desk. This bill could not be called alimony reform and is a complete and utter capitulation to the NJ Bar Association. There are no alimony guidelines for alimony determination in the bill. A second spouses income can be used as a changed circumstances for increasing alimony paid. This is a horrible bill and achieves none of the goals set by the reformer.
WE MUST GET GOVERNOR CHRISTIE TO VETO THIS BILL.
We urge everyone all to email Governor Christie and urge a veto based on the fact that this law will be a boondoggle to the NJ Bar which strongly supports it, does little in the way of reform, and maintains the environment of legislating from the bench in Family Courts due to the lack of comprehensive reform and guidance of concrete alimony laws. This is our only chance. Select Law and Public Safety from the drop down as that's the closest topic we see- http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/
