I am a student in the auburn city school system and this is a paper a wrote about banning homework 

Should we ban homework? I think that we should ban homework. Homework started as a punishment. It can also cause extreme stress and depression and repeats already taught and practiced material.

Here are some reasons I think that homework should be banned Homework started as a punishment It was created by an Italian teacher named Roberto nevilis. He created it as a punishment for students who were lazy in class or for those who were disobedient or rude to their teacher. Homework also causes stress and depression Stanford research shows that fifty-six percent of students considered homework their primary source of stress. Research showed that excessive homework is associated with high-stress levels, physical health problems, and a lack of balance in children’s lives.

Other people think that it provides more time to complete the learning process, that it gets parents involved with a child s life, and that it teaches time management skills. But I think while homework may provide more time to complete learning that's what class time is for and what teachers get paid to do. While it may get parents involved in their kid's life education has changed so much that it ends in arguments and then they're both mad at each other. And don't even get me started on time management a sleepover or birthday party can teach time management but in a fun way.
