Abolish guardianship and conservatorship Laws in Minnesota

The Issue

Recent events and legal cases have revealed that the current guardianship and conservatorship laws in Minnesota can potentially exploit the vulnerable and infringe upon their human rights. These laws, though intended to protect, have had instances of misuse, leading to a need for their reassessment. According to the American Bar Association, "guardianship, also known as conservatorship, is a legal process, utilized when a person can no longer make or communicate safe or sound decisions about his or her person or property" (ABA). However, the adverse impacts these systems can have on the lives of members of our community necessitates their reconsideration and intense scrutiny. Thus, we call upon the Minnesota members of Congress,Minnesota legislators,Minnesota House of Representatives,The Supreme Court of Minnesota, and other lawmakers to take an immediate action to reform and ideally abolish these outdated laws, replacing them with modern alternatives that truly safeguard the rights of every resident. Please stand behind this cause and sign the petition for eliminating guardianship and conservatorship laws in Minnesota . It needs to be illegal . If they’re is people out there that need guidance with their lives and decisions.. Fund different programs where the individual not a “ward” can still have their freedom and have a say in things just work with someone one on one and just council that individual for choices and actions. They’re is ways you can help people without taking over their American freedom and liberty. It is inhuman to do to people. This form of modern day slavery will not stand and any guardians or anyone who even sends these poor victims to this slavery need to be punished to their full extent and prosecuted.
