*We as a whole  , speaking for Americans with Diabilities and retirees on limited income. SSI recipients especially deserve to have a nest egg and have the right to have a piece of the American pie too. Not referring to the ones under 67 that can work and never worked because they have a mental handicap , which is what “medication is to help”and are just lazy! Theres À law written in the 1940s that recipients of SSI are not allowed to own no more than one car, or one house. Not allowed to save more than  2,000 in any federal banking institution !  The basic SSI or SSDI income is capped less then housing market affordability also!  Cap the Rent not our money! People are suffering as no emergency funds no financial preparation at this rate!  Are we not entitled after paying taxes all our life to enjoy our retirement!?  We are in dire and desperate times, everything is beyond our means. To rent a place now you have to earn 3x the rent, market rent now is at least $500 dollars more than social security persons income. Like I have muscular/ skeletal problems half genetics and half from busting my back working hard at minimum wage since I was a teenager and earned the work credits! I was put on disability in 2004, it switched to retirement when I turned 67. Since wages weren’t very high in my day I get  a SSI chk to compensate for the capped income. The majority of my income is mostly disability/retirement and survivors. I’d rather not get that SSI because it decreases anyway when my social security increases. It does however pay my Medicare premiums so On the other hand it’s useful. If social security cost of living was higher, for us, we wouldn’t need that SSI handout. So limited income is causing suffering for all.  Budgeting is difficult in 2025!  Ebt is a joke it doesn’t last at today’s prices…pays for 2weeks of food and food banks hand out expired foods. EBT it doesn’t pay insurance, or fuel gas, some states count ebt benefits as income!So any cola increase goes to    Raises in premiums, raises in rent or insurance etc .Medicare programs like my insurance  will cover utilities, over the counter products and healthy food that doesn’t stretch either in 2025. It’s like the system wants us to remain in poverty level no compassion no freedom. Let us save more ! Businesses will go out if no one can put into the economy! Gov. Should Raise the cost of living higher for retirees and physically disabled! Or live in our shoes for a month they couldn’t do it!  What’s freedom anymore especially if we cannot support local businesses Thank you for your time and signature.
