Abolish Discriminatory Regulations Against Large Breed Dogs

Abolish Discriminatory Regulations Against Large Breed Dogs
The Issue
I am a dog owner, and my story is one shared by many others. My family includes a 12-year-old large breed dog who has never shown any signs of aggression, and a new addition to our family who falls under the category of breeds that are being targeted for bans. These dogs have been around my children since birth, proving that not all large breed dogs pose threats to safety.
The current regulations in place require large breed dogs to wear muzzles, carry certificates and be insured. This discriminates against certain breeds based on stereotypes rather than individual behavior or temperament.
It's important to note that not all dogs are causing problems; it often comes down to the owner and how they treat or train their pets. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), "controlled studies have not identified this breed group as disproportionately dangerous." The AVMA also states that "owners of pit bull-type dogs deal with a strong breed stigma," which can lead to consequences for these animals.
We need your help in advocating for fair laws that evaluate each dog individually instead of generalizing based on their breeds. It's time we shift our focus from penalizing innocent animals towards promoting responsible pet ownership instead.
Please sign this petition if you believe in justice for all breeds and want an end to discriminatory regulations against large breed dogs.
