As a licensed minicab driver in London, We face the daily burden of the congestion charge. This additional expense significantly reduces every drivers earnings, making it increasingly difficult to sustain a living. The congestion charge was initially introduced to reduce traffic and pollution within central London. However, as minicab drivers, we provide an essential service to the community and should not be penalised for doing so.

According to Transport for London (TFL), there are approximately 113,000 licensed private hire drivers in the city. This means that thousands of hardworking individuals are being negatively impacted by this charge every day.

Moreover, while black cabs are exempt from this fee due to their accessibility features, minicabs which also have these features still have to pay the charge. This creates an unfair playing field within our industry.

We urge Mayor Sadiq Khan and TFL officials to reconsider their stance on this issue and abolish the congestion charge for all minicab drivers in London. It's time we levelled out the playing field and provided fair working conditions for all taxi professionals across our city.
