I am a dog owner, just like many of you. My beloved pet has been unjustly labeled under the current Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). This law is not only unfair but also ineffective. It targets specific breeds, labeling them as 'dangerous' or 'bad', when in reality there are no bad dogs, only irresponsible owners.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), it's not the breed that determines a dog's behavior but rather its upbringing and treatment by its owner. The AVMA also states that BSLs have failed to prove their effectiveness in decreasing dog bites and attacks.

This legislation punishes innocent dogs based on their breed rather than holding irresponsible owners accountable for their pets' behavior. It's time we shift our focus from blaming certain breeds to promoting responsible pet ownership which includes proper training, socialization and care.
