Keep Stan Standridge as Chief of Police Abilene Police Department

The Issue

Chief Stan Standridge has served the City of Abilene honorably for the last 25 years, he was appointed Chief in 2009. Chief Standridge decided to pursue a personal relationship with the police Chaplain and followed City protocol to inform City Administration of his intentions. He ultimately felt he had no choice but to resign as Chief of Police to pursue said relationship.  Standridge stated in his resignation letter “My decision, however, has caused a disruption in maintenance and order of the Department, which I fully recognize and assume ownership.”

He has consistently led by example and has the support of this community. Abilene should seek more leaders like Standridge, not force him out because of decision to pursue a relationship where any conflict of interest has been mitigated by transferring the Chaplain to another department.

City Council needs to immediately reconsider Chief Standridge’s resignation letter. It’s time support Standridge and stand for what is right.

Sign this petition to let the City of Abilene know you support Chief Stan Standridge and wish him to stay.

Leadership is not a position or a title, it is action and example” the author of this quote is unknown, but could easily be attributed to Stan Standridge.
