Facts and responsible journalism really matter when it comes to protecting Americans in the face of a public health emergency.

Radio host and Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham has been abusing her media perch to shamelessly politicize the Ebola outbreak, fan the flames of illegitimate fear, and create a platform for the amplification of blatant misinformation and conspiracy theories.

ABC News took on Ingraham in April 2014 as a paid contributor, providing her extreme political propaganda with a veneer of mainstream credibility.

Major news organizations, which seek to maintain their credibility and good name, should not provide journalistic cover for inflammatory and hyper-politicized misinformation which endangers the public health and safety.

Given the direct public health threat presented by Ingraham’s persistent, irresponsible misinformation campaign on Ebola, it’s time for ABC to remove Ingraham immediately as a paid contributor.
