Save the ABC 7.45am Radio News Bulletin

The issue

The ABC is an essential service to Australia. At a time of pandemic, recession, climate change, social unrest and political skullduggery the ABC's flagship national 07.45 bulletin is a quarter hour of intelligent, factual information that brings together Australians of every variety.

Now 07.45 is to be cut in response to an $84 million budget shortfall. The savings come at a great cost to the people who fund the ABC and we demand that the decision is reversed.

The 07.45 bulletin has been a raging success by any standard. It's part of people's daily media diet, sets the agenda and is one of the few things that so many people - regional, metro, younger, older, conservative or progressive - enjoy.

Against other recent cutbacks to other flagship programs The World Today and PM we demand that the axe not fall on 07.45. It's a simple decision.
