Australian girls deserve to see the full richness and diversity of their lives, personalities and experiences reflected on screen.

The status quo of female representation on screen for Australian children is deficient. It is narrow, stereotypical and minimised.

Girls deserve content where:

• female relationships are explored and celebrated
• female heroes solve their problems without the use of magic, glitter or a boy
• the full spectrum of behaviours, personalities and quirks of female characters are seen and celebrated

This petition proposes that amazing Australian writers and storytellers, like Steph Tisdell, Judith Lucy, Kitty Flanagan, Tara Moss, Denise Scott, Celia Pacquola and Jane Caro are encouraged and supported to write/create/produce content available on ABC Kids.
 
For the content to be funded by The Australian Children’s Television Foundation, relevant local state governments and any other awesome people or organisations that want to support the development of an amazing and revolutionary generation of girls.
 
For the content to be broadcast on ABC Kids and be accessible to children across Australia for free.
