On the August 22, 2019 episode of Good Morning America, host Lara Spencer made fun of 6 year old Prince George's study of and interest in ballet- laughing, pronouncing "ballet" in an affected way, and finishing sarcastically with "we'll see how long that lasts." It's time for these silly ideas to be put to rest. The arts are essential to our growth as a society, and people of all genders benefit from artistic expression and participation. Also, grown adults in positions of power have no business publicly mocking children's interests, no matter what they may be.

Let's show Ms. Spencer that ballet is valuable, challenging, and non-gender-specific by sending her to ballet class! I would love to see a GMA segment featuring a Ms. Spencer in a ballet class with a male teacher. Maybe this will help her to realize how silly and misguided her laughter and sarcasm were.
