It has come to our attention that, on October 30th, Mrs Krimmer released a letter to the school community in which she reassured that LGBTIQA+ staff and students would not be discriminated against.
This letter misses the point entirely. It is implicit in the 'Open Letter' signed by Mrs Krimmer that Abbotsleigh wants to retain the 'right to discriminate'. Mrs Krimmer can release all the reassuring letters she likes, but as long as her signature remains on that open letter, she is being hypocritical. Signing that open letter sends a clear and potentially harmful message to LGBTIQA+ staff and students that they are not wanted.
LGBTIQA+ staff and students deserve better than a school that publicly advocates in favour of a right to discriminate. Please keep signing and sharing until Abbotsleigh rescinds its public support for the open letter.
