After Christmas break,  on January 11, 2020. In the schedule Anne Arundel County School board has decided to change and take away  High school students of AACPS red and white block.The school schedule is extended and gives very little break for students and teachers. We are given the decision to sacrifice our lunch break to get personalized help or eat and risk failing a work or class. Students and teachers have already adapted to this schedule, they do not want to change it for a schedule that doesn't better them.

This change in the schedule is unnecessary. Many have already adapted this schedule into their personal life, whether its to babysit their siblings, to going to work. In the new schedule, the school board added "Small Group" sessions after each class, this is unnecessary, for in the old schedule we had red and white block for that specific reason. In the old schedule, we were able to pick and choose which class we need to work on without it being mandatory to stay after online class just "in case" we need to ask a question on an assignment. Students can easily email their teachers or join red or white block, if they are having issues. If a teacher needs to address something to their students they are able to schedule a time on red or white block with that certain student, instead of calling out to the student, in limited time, to explain what they need to make up for.

AACPS School board thinks that this new schedule will benefit the teachers and students, despite not consulting their ideas before putting the new schedule into place. School board thinks red and white block are unnecessary, it is, we may not mention it, but it helps us greatly because we have control over what we need to do, not being limited into a schedule that doesn't allow room for flexibility. The new schedule is made to simulate that we are in real life school, but we aren't, we are in a pandemic and lock down meaning we have to incorporate our personal life into online school life. The old schedule gives room for students and teachers to balance out those two lifestyle without feeling overwhelmed or stressed.

Students and teachers don't appreciate the change, but mainly we see the old schedule befitting us more in the mental health aspect to learning and teaching.
