I made this petition to make sure that students everywhere can use the bathroom when they need to, starting with AACPS. This issue affects students nationwide and we need change now! Please sign and share with others!

As you all may know, recently, a tik tok trend called “devious licks” encouraged students to steal from and vandalize bathrooms. This caused the school to not allow bathroom breaks during transitions, and not the first ten minutes or last ten minutes of class.

This is unfair and unjust for those who did not take part in that trend. It is our human right to use the bathroom, and in addition, it’s unfair to women, since once a month we have our periods. We need to be able to change pads when we need to. 

Another thing, often times when students return from lunch the bathrooms are still locked. I saw one student who needed to use the bathroom but wasn’t able to because the bathroom was locked. They had to get the keys from the teacher in order to unlock the bathroom. 

We shouldn’t have to be worried about the bathroom being locked. It is a natural human right to use the bathroom, and we refuse to have that right taken away from us. 

We encourage anyone who supports this, regardless of your position, whether student, teacher, parent, or any other role, to sign this petition. Help us make Anne Arundel County Public Schools a safer environment for everyone. Help us make students want to be in school, and not worried about not being able to use the bathroom.
