A voice for carriage horses

Horses do not belong in a city environment. As throughout the years debates over animal cruelty in relation to horse drawn carriages in New York city have not resolved this issue, I ask that we take a stand and demand that the horse carriages industry be eradicated. In a CBS New York article it is quoted that "ASPCA has long believed that carriage horses were never meant to live and work in today’s urban setting" and I strongly agree. I first thought a good compromise would be to keep the horses out of Central Park South and eventually move them into the park where the risks of accidents caused by cars would be reduced and the horses would breathe a cleaner air. But I was brought to face the fact that this compromise is not enough and cannot work (to see why http://banhdc.org/centralpark.shtml). Many people are touched by this cause (such as Public Advocate Bill de Blasio who proposes to replace the carriages - and with it the animal cruelty - with electric cars through a bill called Intro 86). There others bills that should be passed such at the Intro 35A and Intro 92.

If you agree to keeping the horses out of the city as they do not belong there, I ask that you sign this petition as a first step to animal justice.
