Petitioning Village of Bolingbrook

A stand on drugs and violence in our neighborhood.

The opening in this fence line is a gateway for persons involved in criminal activity. Multiple residential, vehicle break ins, as well as ongoing property damage. This opening is also access for people to engage in drug sales as well. We as residents of this block are in need of help to get this issue resolved. Our homes, our property, and our children are falling victims to the ongoing crime that this opening allows.

On the night of September the 15th, my children were in their bedroom, settled in for bed. Myself sitting in the livingroom, was startled to hear the sound of shattering glass. Seconds later, the blood curdling scream of my own children and then them running out of their room.

A cement statue, approximately 15 inches in height and weighing nearly 10 pounds was taken by an individual. This statue was right next to my front door. From there this person tossed it through my childrens bedroom window. Fortunately, the screen did not give to much and captured the statue. Unfortunately, glass was thrown through the room and into the hallway. And on top of that, now I have children afraid of their own bedroom.

The person that had done this, vacated the area and utilized an opening in the fencline connecting our neighborhood to a subdivision of townhomes. This location of townhomes is known by the Bolingbrook Police to be the source of the criminal activity that plagues our neighborhood.

All of these crimes as well as the drug trafficking that takes place here can be prevented.

We ask that the Village of Bolingbrook take action on this fence opening. It needs to be removed and in place a sturdy, secure fence installed. Our homes, our property, and our children all are at risk and ask for change.
