A Smile Shouldn’t Cost $50,000"

The Issue

Dear Senator/Representative,

My name is Ms. Ordenstein, and I am one of millions of Americans suffering from tooth loss and daily pain due to the prohibitive cost of dental implants. These are not luxury procedures — they are vital to eating, speaking, and maintaining health. Decaying and missing teeth severely impact our quality of life, our confidence, and even our ability to find employment. Yet, the cost of dental implants can exceed $50,000, putting them out of reach for a significant portion of the population.

The healthcare system often neglects dental care, treating it as separate from general health care. However, studies show that oral health is directly linked to overall health outcomes. Poor dental care can lead to severe health complications including heart disease, diabetes, and more. By not making essential dental care accessible, we are not only allowing people to suffer physically and emotionally but also placing a larger burden on our healthcare system.

Currently, many medical insurance policies exclude or provide minimal coverage for dental procedures, which are often considered cosmetic rather than essential.

But for those enduring daily pain, this distinction does not hold up. A smile should not cost $50,000. Dental health is health care, and it should be treated and funded as such.

I urge policymakers to consider legislation that integrates dental care into mainstream healthcare.

By doing so, we can ensure that everyone has access to necessary dental procedures without facing financial ruin. This would involve amending insurance policies to cover significant portions of dental care procedures and providing subsidies for those who are uninsured or underinsured.

Please join me in advocating for changes that will provide relief and smiles to millions. Sign this petition and let's make dental health a priority in our healthcare system. Your support is vital for making this change happen. Please have anyone you know sign this petition

Thank you for reading my story and considering this crucial issue.
