As of today, we’re at 1,410 supporters, and continuing to grow steadily. Every signature and every share is helping to push this issue further into the spotlight - thank you for being part of it.
There’s also been an encouraging development this week. The issue was raised at a local political party branch meeting, where a motion to support the campaign was unanimously endorsed. That’s a strong signal that this is not a niche concern - it’s something that resonates across the community.
I’m also continuing to hear from many people about the campaign - in conversations, messages, and out in the community. The consistent theme is striking: people overwhelmingly agree the crossing is needed, and many are genuinely surprised that it doesn’t already exist.
And that really gets to the heart of it. This is a simple, practical fix:
- It would have minimal impact on traffic, using existing signals
- It’s inclusive, catering to families, children, older people, and those without access to a car
- It would connect the local community and visitors to one of our most valuable natural assets
- It would provide safe access to Loftus Oval, a key community facility
- And it would support active and public transport, making it possible to reach the Royal National Park without needing to drive
More broadly, this is about removing an obvious barrier. Right now, the Princes Highway divides the community from the park. A safe crossing is a small change that would unlock much better access for everyone.
We’ve come a long way, but maintaining momentum is critical. Please keep sharing the petition, talking about it with people you know, and raising awareness wherever you can — these conversations are what turn good ideas into delivered outcomes.
Next stop: 1,500. Let’s get there.
