The national government has implemented the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps) under the Aquino administration led by the government agency Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This project was established to ensure the stability of each family that is living under poverty, providing the children appropriate health, nutrition, and education they lack of. Through cash assistance, it alleviated the financial burden of eligible Filipinos for the time being.

However, there are other people that have been negatively profiting on the said program. Some beneficiaries are spending it on their personal affairs, contrary to the conditions (that the organization seeks to help unfortunate kids get enough financial help on their education) of this program. For the reason that the ideal objectives of the program are not met and must appropriately change the current solution on the continuous rate of poverty.

One research study shows that the 4ps program has an adverse effect on the beneficiaries because they refuse to take responsibility and would rather lean on the monthly allowance they get from the government. This causes an unproductive community and might cause mendicancy habits from the dependence of beneficiaries on their free monthly allowance, additionally other government programs that they too, gain monthly amount of monetary support. This sparks arguments as it doesn’t achieve the main goal of the program, making it senseless. Furthermore, people will become ignorant and will not bother to learn the current circumstances of our country. Hence, they will continuously rely their childrens’ and personal needs on the government. In conclusion, the beneficiaries should know their capabilities and limits; they should rely more on themselves and mind their own well-being.

This program may still continue, but with a liable condition. Compared with the monthly salary they are able to get instead of living jobless and anticipate on their monthly allowance, it is better to have a job that will financially provide for the whole household, not only on their basic needs but will also help them start their income savings. In this way, they will be eligible for retirement benefits (e.g. pension) so that they can still support themselves once they retire.

This concept must help to put an end with the negligence of the beneficiaries in their own household. Overtime, they will depend on everything in the government, as they will have the mind that their needs would be provided without the need of getting a job. With the intention of altering their negative habits and reasoning, this concept or idea will help see other perspectives — showing that they can still be changed and have a better life. Poverty rates will be lessened, neglected children will decrease. With prudence and hard work, they will continuously thrive in comfort and sustain the needs of their own children.
