The Issue

My daughter and I, along with many others in Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, have been facing an incredibly frustrating situation. For over four months, I have been trying to book her practical driving test at our local driving test centre, but there have been no tests available. This isn't just a minor inconvenience—she needs to drive to get to work and further her independence.

What makes the situation even more vexing is that driving tests are readily available in nearby towns like Carmarthen and Cardigan. While travelling to these locations is an option, it is neither practical nor fair for us to have to journey so far when we have a local test centre intended to serve our community. It’s clear that the service at the Pembroke Dock driving test centre lacks the efficiency and availability offered by its counterparts.

Poor service at our local centre has a ripple effect, creating stress and logistical problems for families like ours who rely on it for essential services. The lack of availability at our centre deprives young local drivers of accessible opportunities to obtain their licences without added stress and financial burden of long-distance travel.

We are calling on the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to take immediate action to improve the availability and quality of service at the Pembroke Dock driving test centre. This could be achieved by allocating more examiners to our centre or better managing their schedule to accommodate increased demand.

By signing this petition, you’re not just helping us; you are supporting an entire community in achieving fair access to essential services. Let’s ensure that the Pembroke Dock driving test centre serves as intended—for the benefit and convenience of local residents. Please sign and share this petition to bring about much-needed change.
