The March Walden Planning Commission meeting, set for Thursday, March 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall, will consider the proposal by its planning consultant to adopt a new TC-1 zoning district that would be applied to the land for the Walden View project. The TC-1 zone will dictate the permitted footprint of Walden View. While the meeting is not specifically about the Walden View development, if the TC-1 zone that the Planning Commission adopts includes an arbitrary cap on the size of the grocery store of anything less than 30,000 square feet in building size, then the Walden View development could not proceed.
As you know, Walden View’s proposed grocery store, which is a full-service grocery supermarket, is 30,000 SF in size, so we want the new TC-1 zone to permit development of that size store. As a supporter of a new grocery store and Walden View, please plan to attend the meeting and be prepared to vocally express your support for adoption of a TC-1 zone that would allow Walden View to have a 30,000 SF grocery store. Simply sign in as a speaker when you arrive if you wish to address the Planning Commission on this topic, as there is a sign-in sheet provided by the town.
