The Issue

To the People of Greenland,

We write to you as individuals across the United States who wish to speak clearly and directly: we stand with you.

We are morally outraged by any suggestion—past, present, or future—that Greenland could be bought, claimed, coerced, or taken by force. Such ideas reduce a sovereign people, their culture, and their homeland to a transaction or a strategic asset. We reject that thinking entirely.

Greenland is not a commodity.

Greenland is not a bargaining chip.

Greenland belongs to the people who live there, care for it, and call it home.

While governments may posture and powerful voices may speak loudly, they do not speak for all of us. This petition exists so that you know: many people in the United States believe deeply in the principles of self-determination, sovereignty, and respect for Indigenous peoples and nations.

We recognize Greenland’s right to decide its own future—free from threats, pressure, or outside ambition. Any attempt to purchase, annex, or seize your country violates the basic values of human dignity and international respect.

This is not a petition demanding action from our government. There are many efforts doing that already.

This is something different.

This is a message of solidarity.

To the people of Greenland:

You are not alone.

You are seen.

You are respected.

We stand with you—now and always.

Signed,

People of the United States who believe in freedom, sovereignty, and justice
