R, J and their young daughter, are so thankful. Over 1400 of you have now put you name to helping this family and others who may face what they are facing.It would be amazing if they hit the next Change.Org target of 1500.

The petition has now attracted more than 34,000 views!

Also encouragingly, since the last update, as well as finally being able to broker a respectful discussion with one party involved in the distressing circumstances, we have received a letter and helpful guidance from the office of the Ombudsman – an office, and role, with some power to help put wrongs to right.

Frustration levels remain high, however.

Every time there’s heavy rainfall in the region there is added stress and worry for the family, and this will be the case until things are resolved.

To that end, the legal process continues. Other action continues as well. This includes the development of a poster (- a snip of which is shown here) to help build public awareness of this petition and the family's plight.

Action also includes making other organisations, such as Local Government New Zealand, aware of the difficulties faced.
