Local Government NZ responds with invitation to talk

Among organisations notified of this family's circumstances, the most recent to respond has been Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ). We look forward to advancing the dialogue with LGNZ over the coming weeks. The reason we feel this is an important matter for LGNZ is the lack of engagement and respect shown to this family by elected Waikato District Council representatives. At a time when participation in local government  elections  is so low you could ask, is it any wonder? (See also the attached RNZ story)

The list of Waikato District Councillors, none of whom would make themselves available to understand this family's plight, can be found on it's website.

We question how governance duties be served if elected representatives do not make efforts to understand the circumstances faced by constituents?

Defendants to meet with family

Representatives of the family, and defendants in the legal case (Waikato District Council; Supreme Construction Ltd trading as Platinum Homes; The Survey Company (TSC) and Ground Consulting (GCL)) are set to meet at the end of week for talks. It’s taken three years and considerable cost and effort from the family for these parties to get serious just two weeks ahead of the court date for legal action. Trust has been significantly depleted as a result, but the family’s resolve is strong.

We will update you as soon as we can. We will also update you further next week on action that is planned on behalf of the family, some of which will be dependent on whether there is any progress this week.
