AgentC - supporting young Waikato family's cause
Jun 8, 2021

Your support and sharing of this petition is of ongoing help.

Through last week and into this week people and organisations who have - or at least should have - an interest in the experience of this young family have been notified of petition and updated of progress towards 1000 signatures.

Responses at this point in time have ranged from silence, to muted acknowledgement of receipt of emails, to polite acknowledgment of contact with promises to reply (thanks Master Builders Association for being the best of the bunch so far - efficient and courteous).

What has been most disappointing has been lack of leadership - signalled by any meaningful engagement - from within those organisations most directly involved.

The family is still holding out for any meaningful advocacy at all from elected representatives. We will consider naming all those contacted who have remained silent… but it does raise the important question: who do they represent?

In the meantime, the door remains open for discussion so that lessons can be learnt, resolution reached and changes considered so this sort of thing doesn’t happen to others.

- And a final note: our thoughts are with all those who were impacted by the massive flooding that hit the Canterbury region last week. Such events turn lives upside down, and can even cost lives. Emergency services did a great job, and the resilience of those most impacted was amazing.  Kia kaha.
