The Daily Mail story on 10th May shows a photo of an emaciated Lurcher pup, Tiggy, near death. Her two owners had starved her and then pretended she wasn't theirs. They said they had found her like that at the side of the road. Someone else told officers that the pup was in fact owned by the couple. This couple has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison. How long did Tiggy suffer? They watched her suffering to almost dead.This is one of the worst cases ever seen. 12 weeks is nowhere near enough. Fortunately,  Tiggy has been nursed back to health but we need future cases of extreme cruelty to carry punishments that fit the crime. A minimum sentence of many months or even some years, certainly not weeks. This type of cruelty is sustained and intentional.  There must be much longer minimum sentences for this type of crime.
