A Fair Review of Bus Services to Gosforth High Street

A Fair Review of Bus Services to Gosforth High Street
The Issue
As a community deeply rooted in Newcastle Great Park, we are blindsided and disturbed by the new changes to our local bus services to Gosforth High Street. We, the residents, were not given the courtesy of consultation, nor were we provided with adequate information about the changes, leaving many of us in the dark due to the lack of broad communication strategies. The Consortium, TAB, and others have handed down measures without considering what we really need, robbing us of our say in vital community affairs.
The proposed changes to bus routes, will demand us taking multiple buses at an added cost and time, directly impact families, carers, people with mobility/health issues, employees and many others by cutting off easy access to essential amenities. And provide No Service later in the evening and Sundays. This is not merely an issue of convenience, but a gross violation of our right to ease of movement. Additionally, this plan impacts the survival of our cherished Gosforth High Street business community and notably disregards the environmental consequences of added commuting or using more cars.
These changes do not sit with Local and Central Government policies to encourage the use of public transport or the support and regeneration of our High Streets.
Furthermore, these changes have a profound equality impact that has been outright ignored. In an era where society is moving towards inclusivity and equal opportunities, this move does nothing but set us back. Everyone will be impacted by the lack of this bus service.
We call for a prompt and fair review of our bus services to Gosforth and the High Street. It is crucial that no resident is left out of the loop because they can't access or don't use social media. It is important that we promote not only the use of public transport, but also its accessibility and affordability to ensure our community stays connected and prosperous. It's time to reclaim our voices and put a stop to changes decided upon without the community's input. Sign the petition today - because in unity, there's strength.
