Assalam Alaikum,

We are a group of concerned community members who are keen on preserving peace and harmony within the Canadian Muslim community and carrying out our Islamic duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil.

Over the last few months, we watched with dismay the unfortunate developments in the lawsuits launched by MAC against Ayaat Academy and Tayba Islamic Academy , and their leadership. This unprecedented escalation of conflict among Muslim organizations is a worst-case scenario for the Muslim community. We are concerned about the rift these actions will cause inside the Muslim community along with their potential negative impact.

We do not see any benefit to our community from these lawsuits. On the contrary, we only see division, animosity, and the setting of a bad precedent especially for our vulnerable youths. That is in addition to the financial resources drain on all parties and their supporters in this winless and unnecessary fight.

We call upon MAC to listen to the community it serves and withdraw these lawsuits and revert to negotiation to resolve any conflict.

We also ask the community leaders, scholars and our brothers and sisters to support this petition by signing it and sharing it within their network.

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided ..”
