The University of Denver operates on its assertions to be a Private University Dedicated to The Public Good. That motto along with various promises to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion give us great faith that the administration may make the necessary changes to promote the equity of all its students and their access to education. 

We the DU Students 4 Trans Visibility are creating this petition today to invite DU to an opportunity to fulfill that promise of equity and extend it to the entire student body, rather than just those students who fit in the societally deemed standard gender binary. We believe that in promises made to the student body these should apply to all students, including Trans and Non-Binary students as well. 

We have three action items geared at three different entities on campus: The Undergraduate Student Government, The Faculty Senate, and The Entirety of DU Administration and Facilities. The action items are as follows: 

Equitable Access to Bathrooms 

We want to see 1 gender neutral bathroom in each building by the end of the 2022-2023 school year 

De-stigmatization of Pronouns 

Incorporation of pronouns and encouragement to share pronouns on course syllabi 

Required pronouns on Canvas accounts 

Pronouns on Outlook accounts 

Pronouns on ID Cards 

A Promise of Continuance 

We want to see verbal support from our student representatives and formal representation in USG and GSG.
